GAZA, Dec. 31 (YPA) – At least 12,943 students have been killed and 21,681 others injured since the Israeli aggression over the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank started on Oct 7, 2023.
The Ministry of Education said in a statement on Tuesday that the number of students killed in the Strip since the start of the genocidal war has reached over 12,943, with 21,681 others injured.
While in the occupied West Bank, including Al Quds city, 120 students were martyred, with 649 others injured, and 542 were arrested.
The statement indicated that 630 teachers and administrators were martyred and 3,865 were injured in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, with arresting more than 158 in the West Bank.
Regarding the damage to the education sector’s infrastructure, the ministry stated that 425 schools, universities and their buildings, in addition to 65 educational institutions run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), were bombed and vandalized in the Gaza Strip, resulting in severe damage to 171 schools and the complete destruction of 77 of them.
Since the beginning of the genocidal war on Gaza, the Israeli occupation has prevented more than 788 thousand students from attending their schools and universities, while most students suffer from psychological trauma and face miserable health and living conditions.
The American-supported Israeli occupation has been waging a genocidal war in Gaza since October 7, 2023, which has left more than 153,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that has killed dozens of children and elderly people.
