WORLD, Nov. 20 (YPA) – The United Nations Security Council is set to hold a session today, Wednesday, regarding the situation in Gaza and Lebanon
The Council will vote on a draft resolution introduced by the non-permanent members of the Council, calling for an end to the war in Gaza.
The vote will take place at 10am local time in New York (15:00 GMT), according to reports.
The draft resolution urges all parties to uphold their responsibilities under international law regarding “the individuals detained in their custody,” and to ensure “basic services and humanitarian aid” for the residents of Gaza.
It also calls for adherence to international law and humanitarian law, particularly with respect to the protection of civilians and civilian property.
The resolution further calls on the parties to implement Security Council Resolution 2735 and affirms that “UNRWA remains the backbone of the humanitarian response in Gaza.”
