Saudi sanctions imposed against First Military Region in Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, Nov. 11 (YPA) – Saudi forces have taken the first sanctions against the Islah Party-run First Military Region following the killing of a number of its soldiers and officers last Friday in Seiyun city of Hadramout province.

Sources familiar with the matter said on Monday that Saudi Arabia sent the Minister of Defense in the coalition-backed Aden government, Mohsen Al-Daeri, to Seiyun following a rebellion that took place in the 135th Infantry Brigade during the past two days.

The sources explained that the minister Al-Daeri arrived at the First Region Command after a state of armed tensions between several brigade’s leaders and soldiers due to the arrest of a number of their colleagues after being subjected to investigations by Saudi intelligence officers against the backdrop of the assassination of Saudi officers.

Al-Daeri’s arrival to resolve this problem without any reaction or armed clashes between the brigade’s members and the factions that will replace him from the Saudi-affiliated Dera al-Watan forces.

The sources pointed out that tensions have widened between the brigade’s recruits and Dera al-Watan after special units from the latter were prevented from entering the city of Seiyun last Saturday after being summoned by Saudi Arabia.

While Dera al-Watan forces issued a clarification that its arrival to the city was for the purpose of cooperating with the security and military authorities to arrest the accused in the assassination of Mohammed Saleh Al-Arousi.
