BEIRUT, Oct. 25 (YPA) – The spokesperson for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees stated today (Friday) that approximately one-fifth of Lebanon’s population has been displaced because of the ongoing war, highlighting that the shelters set up by the Lebanese government are now overcrowded.
Some 430,000 people have crossed from Lebanon to Syria since Israel’s campaign started, Rula Amin, the UNHCR’s Amman-based spokesperson, said.
Regarding the Israeli airstrikes on the border crossings between Lebanon and Syria this morning, the spokesperson stated that she was unaware of any warning being given before the strike, which landed 500 metres from the main border crossing .
