Hezbollah: Zionist attack on journalists will not prevent free and honorable media outlets from covering the Israeli crimes
BEIRUT, Oct. 25 (YPA) – Hezbollah denounced on Friday the deliberate targeting of guesthouses used by media in the southern Lebanese town of Hasbaya, which led to martyrdom and injury of a number of journalists.
In a statement, Hezbollah’s Media Relations Office said: “This new crime is added to the Israeli enemy’s horrific and terrorist record of targeting journalists and media outlets in Gaza and Lebanon.”
Hezbollah called on media unions and syndicates to condemn the Israeli crime and to work in a bid to final criminal complaints against the Zionist enemy.
“We are fully confident that this crime won’t prevent free and honorable media outlets from covering the Israeli aggression and revealing truth of the heroic epics secured by the resistance fighters,” the statement read.
Hezbollah, meanwhile, offered condolences to Al-Manar Channel and Al-Mayadeen Network over martyrdom of their staff members, wishing speedy recovery for those who were injured.
Commenting on the Israeli aggression, Head of The Lebanese Parliamentary Telecoms and Media Committee, MP Ibrahim Al-Moussawi said the attack in Hasbaya was a “deliberate Zionist targeted bombing which came after monitoring and tracking the journalists.”
“This is a clear war crime that contradicts with all international and humanitarian charters and laws which protect media workers.”
Al-Mousawi added, “We expect all concerned legal and media entities to file legal cases and pursue the enemy’s leaders before the competent courts.”
He expressed full solidarity with the resistance channels, Al-Mayadeen and Al-Manar, and all targeted media outlets, calling for the implementation of all measures to ensure complete protection for journalists to carry out their missions freely.
Early today, the Israeli occupation carried out an aggression targeting the journalists’ residence in Hasbaya, southern Lebanon, which resulted in the martyrdom of camera operator Ghassan Najjar and engineer Mohamed Reda of al-Mayadeen television network, and camera operator Wissam Qassem, who worked for al-Manar Channel.
