Remines of 233 Palestinians recovered from rubble in Gaza Strip

GAZA, Aug. 27 (YPA) – Gaza Civil Defense teams recovered the remains of 233 Palestinians out of 407 people reported missing under the rubble of 20 residential homes destroyed by Israeli occupation forces, officials announced Thursday.

The recoveries were made during an ongoing 51-day search operation—the second major recovery campaign launched in the area.

Mohammed Abu Dan, who leads a civil defense project aimed at recovering victims’ bodies, said the recovered remains were among those of 400 people previously reported missing.

Recovered bodies included 73 children and 106 women, he said, adding that the operation was part of the project’s second phase, which began in mid-July amid chronic shortages of equipment and resources.

He said that search operations remain ongoing, with Civil Defense teams focusing on multi-story buildings believed to bury the highest number of missing victims.
