Yemen records three earthquakes in different areas

DHAMAR, Oct. 17 (YPA) – Seismic monitoring and studies stations at the National Center for Monitoring and Studies of Earthquakes and Volcanoes in Dhamar province recorded three earthquakes on Yemeni territory since yesterday evening, Wednesday, until dawn today, Thursday.

tremors were distributed in the areas of the Gulf of Aden, east of Al-Udayn, and east of the city of Dhamar, with strengths ranging between 2.3 and 3.3 degrees on the Richter scale.

The head of the center, Muhammad Hussein Al-Houthi, explained the center’s stations monitored at 10:57 pm yesterday, Wednesday (Sanaa time), an earthquake in the Gulf of Aden with a magnitude of 3.3 on the Richter scale between longitude 44.11 east and latitude 12.45 north.

Another earthquake was monitored east of the city of Dhamar, 18 kilometers away from the monitoring stations, with a magnitude of 2.3 degrees on the Richter scale at 3:02 at dawn today, Thursday.

The stations recorded an earthquake in the eastern Al-Udayn area with a magnitude of (3) on the Richter scale at 4:31 am in the morning, between longitude (44.868) east and latitude (13.417) north.

Al-Houthi confirmed that seismic activities fall within the light activities that occur from time to time and are considered a release of seismic energy.
