BEIRUT, Oct. 16 (YPA) – The Islamic-Christian Spiritual Summit, which was held on Wednesday in Bkerki, declared the national unity to confront Israeli aggression that targets all of Lebanon and its people.
In its statement, the summit called on the Lebanese to reach understanding and agreement, stressing that Lebanon is at risk of being lost in light of the Israeli occupation’s threats that target the unity of the Lebanese.
It urged the Lebanon people to fulfill their duties towards their country, “especially for the Parliament to elect a president for the country.”
The summit’s statement thanked the Lebanese who are providing relief to the displaced and hosting them until they return to their homes and villages, parsing the role of the Arab countries providing material and medical aid.
The statement called on the UN Security Council to convene and take a decision to stop the aggression on Lebanon, and to begin implementing Resolution 1701 and strengthening the capabilities of the Lebanese army.
