Major fire devours central market in Ataq city of Shabwa

SHABWA, Sept. 22 (YPA) – A major fire broke out on Sunday afternoon in the central vegetable market in the city of Ataq, the capital of Shabwa province, causing massive material damage.

According to eyewitnesses, attempts to extinguish the fire were made through community efforts in the absence of civil defense fire engines.

The fire did not record any human casualties, but it caused serious material damage to the market, which is considered one of the most important commercial markets, amid accusations that the fire was fabricated to hand over the market to someone close to the governor loyal to Saudi-led coalition.
