STC leaks information about American summons of “Presidential Leadership Council” members

ADEN, Sept. 11 (YPA) – Media loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) have revealed the date for the structure of the “Presidential Leadership Council,” which was formed in Riyadh in April 2022.

“Al-Umna’a” newspaper, which is close to the STC, confirmed that the “Leadership Council” is witnessing major disagreements among its members.

The newspaper expected that restructuring would take place in the Leadership Council after four of its members attended the United Nations General Assembly meeting, including the Council’s President, Rashad Al-Alimi, and his deputy, Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, who also chairs the STC.

Political sources explained that the US envoy to Yemen, “Tim Lenderking,” summoned Al-Ailami and Al-Zubaidi after the differences between them reached a dead end, following the Lenderking’s summoning of the Presidential Council member, Faraj Al-Bahsani, individually to Washington at the beginning of this month.

The sources stated that the United States is engaged in political moves to oust Al-Zubaidi from the leadership council after his ouster from the leadership of the security factions in Aden and assign their leadership to the Salafist leader loyal to Abu Dhabi, Abu Zara’a Al-Muharami.

According to the sources, the US Ambassador “Fagin” is the one supervising the structure of the “Leadership Council” amid severe disagreements among the council’s members regarding the proposals put forward by the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

The sources expected the exclusion of a number of members, including Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, Tariq Afash, Othman Mujali, Faraj Al-Bahsani, and Sultan Al-Arada, and the retention of Abu Zar’ah Al-Mahrami and Rashad Al-Alimi, and the addition of Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh to the new list in the council’s formation after the lifting of international sanctions on the latter last month.
