Israeli entity pressures South Africa to withdraw its case before ICJ

WASHINGTON, Sept. 10 (YPA) – The American website “Axios” has reported that the Israeli occupation’s Foreign Ministry sent a secret cable to the Israeli embassy and all consulates in in Washington on South Africa’s lawsuit before the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

The website said that the cable called on the embassy and consulates to work immediately with lawmakers at the federal level, governors, and Jewish organizations to pressure South Africa to change its policies toward Israel.

The Axios website quoted the cable as saying that “Israel” is exerting pressure on members of the US Congress to pressure South Africa to drop its legal procedures in the ICJ regarding the war on Gaza.

Israeli diplomats were directed to ask members of Congress and Jewish organizations in the United States to communicate directly with South African diplomats in the United States and make clear that “South Africa will pay a heavy price if it does not change its policy.”
