Senior security commander in Shabwa survives armed ambush

SHABWA, Sept. 10 (YPA) – A senior security commander loyal to the Saudi-led coalition survived on Monday an armed ambush in the city of Ataq, the center of Shabwa province, southeastern Yemen.

Local sources said that gunmen opened fire on the convoy of the police commander in the province, Colonel Ali Al-Dahboul, and his companions responded to the attackers.

The sources added that Al-Dahboul miraculously escaped the armed ambush, while the attackers fled with collusion from security factions.

The incident comes amid a conflict of powers between the official security forces and the “Shabwa Defense” forces loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).
