CNN: Sinwar has the final say in the ceasefire negotiations

WORLD, Sept. 03 (YPA) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech on Monday, where he asserted that Israel would never leave the “Philadelphi Route,” reportedly disrupted the ceasefire negotiations with Hamas, CNN reported, citing a well-informed source.

According to the CNN, the negotiations were further complicated by the news of six hostages being killed in Gaza, which led to increased frustration among mediators trying to move the ceasefire and prisoner exchange forward.

“Hamas, led by Yehya Sinwar, is perceived as having the upper hand in the negotiations. He exploits every weakness in Netanyahu that he can manipulate, with the most significant being Netanyahu’s vulnerability to public opinion. He is not just facing his usual adversaries, the liberal left within the occupation entity, but is engaged in a life-and-death struggle with Hamas leader Yehya Sinwar, who has shown he is willing to engage in unimaginable moments to achieve his goals,” CNN confirmed .

The failure to secure a deal and the impact of his speech on the negotiations are diminishing Netanyahu’s political prospects and are raising questions about how long he can remain in power.

Hamas described Netanyahu’s statements as a sign of desperation and a failed attempt to present a victory to his public.

US President Joe Biden sharply criticized Netanyahu, stating that ceasefire and prisoner exchange negotiations are ongoing but not with Netanyahu’s involvement, and suggesting that Netanyahu is not doing enough to secure an agreement.
