ALGERIA, Aug. 21 (YPA) – Algeria’s company ‘Sonatrach’ announced on Wednesday that it has begun shipping the first shipment of fuel to Lebanon, to help overcome the electricity crisis the country is going through.
According to the Algerian News Agency, the company said in a statement that the shipment, which was prepared at the Skikda oil port, is estimated at about 30,000 tons of fuel as a first stage.
The statement added that the first shipment will be sent to Lebanon by the fuel tanker ” Yanker”, belonging to the Sonatrach complex, tomorrow, Thursday.
This comes in implementation of the order of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to support Lebanon with energy and help it overcome its current crisis in a step that reflects the depth of bilateral relations between the two countries,” the statement added.
The statement also indicated that this operation “aims to stand by brotherly Lebanon in these difficult circumstances, by immediately providing it with quantities of fuel in order to operate power plants and restore electricity in the country.”
