TEHRAN, Aug. 11 (YPA) – China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi affirmed on Sunday that his country would continue to support Tehran in defending its “sovereignty, security and national dignity.
This came in a phone call that Wang Yi made with Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri.
During the call, Wang Yi reiterated Beijing’s condemnation of the assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, saying the strike violated Iran’s sovereignty and threatened regional stability.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry’s statement quoted Wang as telling Bagheri that Haniyeh’s assassination “directly undermined the process of negotiating a ceasefire in Gaza and undermined peace and stability in the region.”
