WASHINGTON, July 17 (YPA) – The commander of the American destroyer “USS Mason,” Justin Smith, has acknowledged that the tactics and capabilities of the Yemeni armed forces are constantly evolving in the naval confrontation and that the threats do not remain limited to a certain level.
On Tuesday, the American “Business Insider” website published a report quoting Smith as saying “the Yemenis are developing in their tactics, techniques, and procedures.”
He added, “Everything evolves, and threats do not remain stagnant.”
The report described the US destroyer’s mission as “stressful,” confirming that “this is the first time that the warship finds itself in this very dangerous situation.”
The report stated that the American destroyer was targeted years ago, in October 2016, with missiles while it was operating in the Red Sea and around the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
A few days ago, American pilots returning from the Red Sea described the battle as “shocking” and “crazy.” They said that no one on board the aircraft carrier “Eisenhower” and its group expected this confrontation.
For its part, the American newspaper “The Wall Street Journal” said on Tuesday that the battle in the Red Sea is depleting the capabilities of the American Navy without a clear plan in the most severe confrontation it has waged since World War II, noting that Washington’s options would not improve with the expansion of Yemeni operations.
On Tuesday, the US army admitted that two ships, one of them owned by the Zionist enemy, had been hit, hours after the armed forces announced their targeting, which represents a new acknowledgment of the continued Yemeni success in imposing the equation of a maritime embargo on shipping traffic linked to the Zionist enemy.
The US Central Command said in a statement that the ship “Bentley 1” was subjected to “multiple attacks from Yemen in the Red Sea” on Monday, noting that the ship “is owned by Israel and flies the flag of Panama.” It stated that the ship was attacked “by three surface ships (unmanned boats) and an anti-ship ballistic missile.”
