GAZA, July 12 (YPA) – The Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip announced Thursday that about 60 bodies were found under the rubble of buildings in the Al-Shuja’iya neighborhood of Gaza City.
This came after the Israeli occupation forces announced their withdrawal from the neighborhood on Wednesday evening, following military operations that lasted for two weeks.
Mahmoud Basal, spokesman for the Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip, said in a statement, “The civil defense crews, immediately after the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces from the Al-Shuja’iya neighborhood, were able, in cooperation with the people of the neighborhood, to recover about 60 martyrs so far.”
Basal confirmed that “85 percent of the neighborhood’s buildings are uninhabitable,” not counting the infrastructure that was “destroyed.”
