UN appoints new head for UNMHA

SANAA, July 01 (YPA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sanaa government, Hisham Sharaf, met with Mari YAMASHITA, the  Deputy Head of Mission of the United Nations Mission to Support the Hodeida Agreement (UNMHA), who was recently appointed.

During the meeting, Minister Sharaf affirmed that the leadership in Sanaa is keen on international peace and security in the region, particularly in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Arabian Sea.

He emphasized that the operations by Yemeni armed forces is limited to ships owned by the Israeli enemy or those heading to and from occupied Palestinian ports, until the Zionist military aggression ceases and humanitarian, food, medical aid, and fuel enter Gaza without obstruction.

He added that the Sanaa government is committed to implementing the Stockholm Agreement and is eager to achieve a comprehensive, honorable, and fair political settlement that preserves all rights of the Yemeni people and addresses their specific economic and humanitarian compensation needs.

For her part, the UN official clarified that she will work with the mission team to contribute to the restoration of security and stability in Yemen.
