STC cedes management of Aden port to foreign

ADEN, June 17 (YPA) – The President of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, has demanded that the port of Aden be returned to the UAE after canceling an unfair agreement signed by the former president Ali Abdullah Saleh’s regime with the UAE.

This came in a document issued recently by Al-Zubaidi and addressed to the Prime Minister of the government to loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak.

In the document, the STC’s president demanded facilitating procedures to hand over the port of Aden to the UAE by sitting with the ministerial committee he formed to negotiate with the Abu Dhabi Ports Group and the Aden Ports Corporation.

Al-Zubaidi stressed the need to activate the canceled agreement with the UAE during 2013, under which Abu Dhabi Ports contributed to the destruction of the Port of Aden in favor of the Ports of Dubai and Jebel Ali.

This comes after the pro-coalition government handed over management of the telecommunications sector in the southern province to an Emirati-Israeli company.
