Russian State Duma Speaker: Scholz and Macron should resign after European parliament elections

WORLD, June 10 (YPA) -Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, stated that the parties of French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz “miserably lost” in the European Parliament elections.

He pointed out that the preliminary election results indicate that Macron’s policies have failed and that the ruling coalition in Germany has lost public support.

Volodin wrote on his Telegram page: “The results in France and Germany are predictable. The economy is in state of depression. There is a migration crisis, and both countries have been dragged into the war in Ukraine against their national interests. Macron and Scholz are clinging to power with all their might. It would be right for them to resign and stop mocking their citizens.”

Preliminary information indicates that voter turnout in the European Parliament elections reached 51%.  The European People’s Party won in most EU countries.

In France, President Emmanuel Macron dissolved the National Assembly due to his party’s loss in the European Parliament elections.

In Germany, Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s party showed its worst result in history, losing to the far-right.
