Pro-coalition officials suddenly left Aden ahead of protests

ADEN, May 29 (YPA) -Several officials, including ministers in the government loyal to Saudi-led coalition, have suddenly left the city of Aden, well-informed sources reported.

This came after an announcement by a movement calling itself the “Revolution of the Hungry,” which scheduled a popular mobilization for angry protests aimed at ending the policy of starvation against the people of southern provinces.

Pro-coalition local media outlets  published a statement from the movement confirming its intention to carry out protests on Wednesday, in Aden and other provinces.

The goal is to oust the coalition and its allied authorities in response to the currency collapse and rising prices.

The “Revolution of the Hungry” emphasized that the living situation and service collapse have reached an unbearable point for citizens due to poverty and the high cost of living, resulting from an economic collapse driven by a systematic policy of starvation.

Several pro-coalition officials left Aden unexpectedly for Saudi Arabia following the departure of the coalition-backed Prime Minister, Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak, to the UAE. This occurred amid their failure to address the upcoming angry protests.

Since the beginning of this week, Aden’s airport has witnessed mass departures of numerous government ministers and officials to Riyadh and Cairo, without implementing any notable economic measures to curb the rapid decline of the local currency, which has affected all aspects of living conditions.
