Death toll from attack on Iran police stations rises to 16

TEHRAN, April 04 (YPA) – The death toll from the attack that targeted police stations in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, southeastern Iran, has risen to 16 militants, including 11 security personnel.

The official IRNA news agency earlier quoted Seyyed Majid Mirahmadi, Deputy for Security and Law Enforcement at Iran’s Interior Ministry, as saying: “5 terrorists were killed and 5 security forces were martyred in the terrorist attack on two sites in the province.”

“So far, eight terrorists who attacked the military headquarters in the cities of Rasak and Chabahar, south of the Province, have been killed, and a number of the rest of the terrorists have been completely surrounded by the security forces,” he added.

Earlier, Alireza Marhamati, the Deputy Governor of Sistan and Baluchestan province, announced that the security forces were able to thwart an armed attack that targeted 3 police stations in the province, resulting in the killing and wounding of a number of the perpetrators, noting that 3 security men were killed during the clashes.
