Hamas delegation leaves Cairo without breakthrough in Gaza truce

CAIRO, March 07 (YPA) – Hamas’ delegation left on Thursday the Egyptian capital Cairo with no reaching a truce in the besieged Gaza Strip, which is threatened with famine before the start of the month of Ramadan.

According to Agence France-Presse, the last round of talks, which began on Sunday in Cairo without Zionist participation, had ended without reaching a result, with Hamas confirming that the Zionist entity has not yet met its “minimum” demands.

A senior Hamas official, who requested to remain anonymous, said, “The Hamas delegation left Cairo on Thursday for consultations, and is still awaiting Israel’s final, official response.”
The official revealed, “Israel’s initial responses do not meet our minimum requirements related to a final ceasefire and the complete withdrawal of its forces from Gaza.

“We will not give up what will provide our people with safety and return to their homes, and launch a relief and reconstruction operation that meets their basic needs and restores the ability to live in the Gaza Strip after the barbaric destruction committed by the occupation,” he added.

The Israeli occupation rejects these demands, stressing that its attack would continue until Hamas be eliminated, threatening to launch a ground operation in the city of Rafah in the far south of the Gaza Strip, which has become the last refuge for about 1.5 Palestinians who have been displaced as a result of the battles and destruction in the areas of the Gaza Strip, according to the United Nations.
