Human chain in Jordan to protest bridge transporting goods to Israel

AMMAN, Feb. 15 (YPA) – Hundreds of Jordanian activists on Thursday organized a human chain protesting the land bridge that transports goods from the UAE to the Israeli occupation entity via Jordanian territory.

The event took place in the Al-Nuaima Bridge area, on the highway leading to the city of Irbid in the north of the country, through which trucks pass heading to the Sheikh Hussein Bridge, which connects with the Palestinian territories occupied in 1948.

The participants raised banners denouncing the Jordanian government’s agreement to supply the occupation with goods at a time when it is receiving a major blow from the Red Sea after Yemeni armed forces prevented the passage of cargo ships heading to its ports.

The protesters denounced the Gulf Arab countries’ assistance to the Israeli occupation to get out of its crisis and compensate for the losses it suffers as a result of its aggression against the Gaza Strip.

Last Friday, activists organized an event to go to the Sheikh Hussein crossing, but the Jordanian authorities prevented them from reaching the place and blocked their way from 26 kilometers away from the bridge linking Jordan and Palestine.

Jordanian security set up a checkpoint in the center of Irbid, on the road leading to the Northern Shuna area, and prevented participants from reaching it and heading to the crossing area to protest against the land bridge.
