Gunman attacks commercial store in Abyan

ABYAN, Feb. 14 (YPA) – A gunman attacked on Wednesday fire on a commercial store in the center of Zinjibar district, the capital of Abyan province in southern Yemen.

Local sources in the city reported that a member of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias attacked opened fire on the commercial store after its owner refused to give the gunman goods at the deferred price, without recording any casualties.

The sources pointed out that store owners refused to sell on credit due to inability to pay their debts to merchants.

This comes in conjunction with the economic deterioration that the coalition-held southern provinces witnessed, as a result of the collapse of the price of the Yemeni riyal against foreign currencies, in which a dollar equals about 1,630 Yemeni riyals.
