SHABWA, Jan. 28 (YPA) – A fire that broke out on Sunday in a camp housing a number of displaced people and poor families caused material damage in the city of Ataq, the center of Shabwa province, eastern Yemen.
Local sources in the city reported that the fire destroyed three tents sheltering displaced families in Al-Mudhlal camp, which includes a number of poor families in Ataq, without any human casualties being recorded.
The sources confirmed that a number of citizens rushed to the camp after smoke rose in the area and were able to put out the fire before it spread to neighboring tents.
The fire broke out due to an electrical short circuit due to the random connection in Yemen, while other sources state that the fire was deliberately set on in the camp by unknown persons due to incitement against the displaced by followers of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council.
