Academic in Aden calls on South Africa to file lawsuit against Saudi-led coalition

ADEN, Jan. 28 (YPA) – The politician and academic at the University of Aden, Abdulrahman Al-Wali, has called on the “State of South Africa” to intervene and file a lawsuit against the Saudi-led coalition due to the catastrophic conditions witnessed in the city of Aden and the rest of the southern provinces.

In a post on his account on the “X” platform on Sunday, Al-Wali described the economic and living situation in Aden as catastrophic, confirming that the situation of citizens is in a very bad condition, considering what is happening to be “genocide.”

Al-Wali pointed out that the “Presidential Leadership Council” that was appointed by the coalition is bad and the government is worse than it, indicating that the summer season would be disastrous for the people of Aden due to the collapse of electricity service and the lack of water, food, and health services.

“We hope that if someone who has a good relationship with the South African government pleads with them, they will file a case with the International Court of Justice that the South is being subjected to widespread genocide,” he said.

Al-Wali’s call came after the British BBC channel published last Tuesday an investigative report that confirmed the UAE’s involvement in dozens of assassinations in Aden through American mercenaries who were brought to the city during the past years and their admission of receiving huge sums of money from Abu Dhabi that provided them with a list of the names of the targeted political, military, and religious figures, which exceeded 160 individuals.

The areas under the control of the coalition have been witnessing an economic collapse that has affected all basic services amid the government’s inability to pay the salaries of teachers and others since last December.

The selling price of the US dollar in Aden and the rest of the Yemeni areas under the control of the coalition exceeded 1,600 riyals. The collapse of the local currency is reflected in the rise in prices of goods and basic materials, which doubles the suffering of citizens.
