Two earthquakes reportedly take place in Arabian Sea towards Socotra Island

SANAA, Jan. 23 (YPA) – Observers have revealed information about an earthquake that occurred recently in the Arabian Sea towards the occupied Yemeni archipelago of Socotra, amid warnings of similar earthquakes in the coming days.

Specialized researchers monitoring earthquakes and volcanoes on the “X” platform reported that two earthquakes took place in the Arabian Sea, the first one measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale and the second measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale, both at a shallow depth in the Arabian Sea.

Researchers anticipated more tremors and earthquakes around the same seismic center and suggested that seismic energy could transfer through the fissures in the region towards Socotra Island and the coasts of Oman.

They also predicted that these tremors and earthquakes might extend to the land in the Gulf of Aden, Djibouti, Eritrea, and Ethiopia, through the Red Sea rift, or the Owen fracture and Makran towards India, Pakistan, and Iran.
