IOM: 7.7 million citizens have been displaced since the start of the conflict in Sudan

WORLD, Jan. 18 (YPA) – The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced that more than 7.7 million people have been displaced in Sudan since the start of the conflict between the army and the Rapid Support Forces on April 15, 2023.

The Director General of IOM, Amy Pope, called on the international community to intensify funding efforts and not abandon the millions of civilians bearing the brunt of the conflict that has been ongoing for 9 months in Sudan.

Pope stated in a statement released on Wednesday that there is an urgent need for a coordinated and continuous humanitarian response to address the increasing needs of the world’s largest displacement crisis.
