TEHRAN, Jan. 01 (YPA) – Iran’s Alborz warship, part of Group 94 of the Iranian Army Navy, reached on Monday had entered the waters of the Red Sea through the Bab al-Mandab Strait, Iran-based Mehr News Agency said.
“The destroyer is equipped with long-range naval cruise missiles.” According to the Agency, “the Alborz arrived in the region alongside the Behshad military ship to carry out the mission of protecting Iranian interests and securing shipping lines.”
In 2019, “Alborz” joined the Southern Fleet of the Iranian Army Navy after carrying out major repairs and installing new technical systems.
This destroyer joined also the naval fleet in Bandar Abbas in 1972. It weighs 1,550 tons and reaches a speed of more than 36 knots.
