Moscow: US plans to open a “second front” against Russia in the South Caucasus

WORLD, Dec. 30 (YPA) – The United States is considering the possibility of opening a second front against Russia in the South Caucasus, Deputy Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Mikhail Galuzin said.

“Washington has long made no secret of the fact that they view the South Caucasus as a springboard for opening a second front against Russia,” he told RIA Novosti

Galuzin emphasized that such actions contradict the true interests of the peoples of this region.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova had earlier noted that Armenia “at the suggestion or incentive of the West” was demonstrating its intentions to radically reorient its foreign policy.

Zakharova stressed that the actions of the United States and the European Union are “in line with the goal of removing Russia from the South Caucasus region.”

Last year, Yerevan and Baku, through mediation by Russia, the United States and the European Union, began discussing a future peace treaty.
