Guterres: 136 UN employees killed in Israeli attack on Gaza

NEW YORK, Dec. 23 (YPA) – The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres declared on Saturday the killing of 136 UN employees in Gaza within 75 days.

Guterres said in his post on X that the way Tel Aviv is carrying out its attack on civilians in Gaza has created the huge obstacles to the distribution of humanitarian aid inside Gaza.
He stressed that an effective relief operation in Gaza requires safety and logistical capacity, and the resumption of commercial activity.

Guterres saluted the workers of the United Nations and the thousands of humanitarian workers who risk their lives to support civilians in Gaza.

Moreover, he added, in a press conference after the Security Council voted on a draft resolution on expanding the scope of humanitarian aid to Gaza, that what is happening in Gaza is unprecedented and the war must stop.

The UN Secretary-General continued, “We waited 70 days to obtain Tel Aviv’s approval to open Kerem Shalom border crossing for aid.

“I am very upset by the statements of officials in Tel Aviv questioning the two-state solution, he stated. “A ceasefire for humanitarian purposes is the only way to stop the suffering.”
