UAE releases most dangerous leaders of Al-Qaeda in Shabwa

SHABWA, Dec. 07 (YPA) – The UAE-backed factions released on Wednesday a number of the most dangerous leaders of the Al-Qaeda terrorist organization in Shabwa province, eastern Yemen.

Informed sources reported that the “Shabwa Defense” factions loyal to the UAE released two of the most prominent terrorist leaders in the province, called “Shihab al-Wahishi” and “Muwahed al-Qaifi,” in the so-called prisoner exchange with the organization.

The sources confirmed that the process of releasing the terrorist leaders was in exchange for the release of “Muhammad Al-Ateeqi,” the son of the commander of the “former Ataq axis affiliated with the Islah Party—Commander of the 30th Brigade,” Aziz Al-Ateeqi.

It is noteworthy that local media outlets affiliated with the Saudi-led coalition circulated news in mid-July of the kidnapping of Al-Ateeqi’s son and four of his companions while they were passing through Wadi Khourah in the Markha District, northwest of the city of Ataq, the center of Shabwa province.
