US lawmaker reveals that she received financial offer from Israeli lobby in 2018 to change her convictions

WORLD, Dec. 07 (YPA) – The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) offered $100,000 to US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in 2018 to change her convictions after statements attacking Israeli occupation violence against Palestinians, according to the Intercept.

The story dates back to mid-July 2018, when Ocasio-Cortez was still gaining fame when she agreed to give an interview on PBS’s “Firing Line.”

At the height of the primaries, the US lawmaker drew attention with her harsh criticism of the Israeli occupation forces, who shot at Palestinians in Gaza, killing many at the time.

She said in the interview at the time that her criticism was not a comment on the region’s politics, but merely a defense of the right to protest without being killed.

In May 2018, she tweeted, “This is a massacre,” when the occupation forces continued to kill Palestinians in Gaza, and the number of martyrs rose to two hundred.

“I hope my colleagues have the moral guts to use this characterization,” she said. There is no justification for any state or entity to shoot indiscriminately at protesters. The Palestinian people deserve the most basic semblance of human dignity, like any other people. Democrats should not be silent about this anymore.”
