Coalition leaves Mahra’s people to face their unknown fate with “Tej” cyclone disaster

MAHRA, Oct. 24 (YPA) – The people of Mahra province, eastern Yemen, witnessed difficult times during the past hours as a result of the province’s exposure to Hurricane “Tej”.

The cyclone “Tej” left dozens of victims, displaced about 10,000 families, and caused major damage to infrastructure and private and public property.

The government loyal to Saudi-led coalition in Mahra played no role in the shameful situation that left the people of the province facing their unknown fate.

The IDP Camps Management Unit in Mahra was limited to registering 1,352 displaced families as a result of the hurricane, noting that it had established 45 shelter centers, as it said.

Contrary to that, southern media sources revealed that the hurricane caused the death and injury of 150 people, major damage to infrastructure and private and public property, and displaced about 10,000 people in Al-Ghaydah and Haswain districts, which were the most affected by the hurricane.

The Yemeni Red Crescent in Mahra launched an appeal to the pro-coalition government to send planes to rescue the stranded people, to no avail, after it announced that its emergency teams and vehicles were unable to reach those affected by the hurricane in Al-Ghaydah and the rest of the districts.
