Contractors Union continues to close branch of Central Bank in Mahra

MAHRA, Sept. 23 (YPA) – The Contractors Union in Mahra province, eastern Yemen, continued on Saturday to close the Central Bank’s branch in the city of Al-Ghaydah for the fourth day in a row as part of an escalation program to demand that the local authority pay contractors’ dues.

The protesters threatened to increase the pace of their protests and expand them to include other districts of the province if the local authority continued to ignore their demands and rights.

The union pointed out that the practices of the authority are what forced the contractors to escalate and put pressure to ensure the delivery of their rights, after years in which they exercised all regular and legal methods.

The protesters raised banners calling on all official and popular bodies to understand their legitimate demands and lift the injustice against them, denying that they had subversive goals or any connection to political or partisan tendencies.
