Tribes in Abeida threaten to close Safer Facility in Marib

MARIB, Sept. 22 (YPA) – Al-Damashiqa tribe, one of Abida tribes in Marib governorate, vowed to close the Safer refinery and prevent tank trucks  from approaching to its headquarters.

The tribesmen warned tank trucks’ drivers to stop loading oil and gas derivatives from the Safer facility, starting from tomorrow, Saturday, and whoever violates the order his tank truck will be destroyed or confiscated.

The move comes within the framework of conflicts between factions loyal to the Saudi-led coalition.

On Monday, Unidentified persons believed to belong to the Saudi-led coalition factions targeted a gas pipeline complex near the Asaad Al-Kamel oil field in the Safer facility, east of Marib province.

Local reports described the attack as “sabotage”, revealing that one of the oil wells and the pipeline complex were targeted but not defining the type of targeting or the party responsible, amid accusations against Islah Party-affiliated elements

It is noteworthy that Marib has been recently witnessing clashes between tribesmen from Marib on the one hand and the factions of the Islah Party on the other hand, which led to casualties in addition to the burning of a number of oil and gas tank trcuks.

Earlier this month, the tribesmen of  Al-Qazaa tribe, threatened to stop work in the Safer Oil Company and gave all the company’s employees 48 hours to stop work at the facility, due to the failure of the pro-coalition authorities in Marib to meet their legitimate demands.
