Pro-coalition military commander survives assassination in Mocha

TAIZ, Aug. 20 (YPA) – The coastal city of Mocha in Taiz province, southwest Yemen, witnessed on Sunday a state of tension following an assassination attempt against a prominent military commander loyal to the Saudi-led coalition in the city.

Local sources in the city of Marib told the “Yemeni Press Agency” that Colonel “Ahmed Ghanem,” the staff chief of the “4th Tihama Brigade,” loyal to the Islah Party, was subjected to an assassination attempt while he was traveling with his family from the city of Mocha to Aden province.

The Islah Party’s factions accuse the UAE-backed factions commanded by “Tariq Saleh,” a member of the pro-coalition “Presidential Leadership Council,” of liquidating and marginalizing the party members and leaders in the coalition-controlled western coast districts.
