Ambush in Abyan kills one member of UAE-funded faction, injures 10

ABYAN, Aug. 07 (YPA) – At least a member of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) faction was killed and 10 others were injured in an attack in Abyan province in southern Yemen on Monday.

Informed local sources reported that unidentified gunmen, believed to be members of al-Qaeda, attacked a vehicle belonging to the STC factions with an explosive device, as a result of which one of the STC elements was killed and 10 others were wounded, east of Modiyah district.

The sources added that ambulances rushed to the site of the explosion to transfer the wounded to Laodar Hospital, among them critical cases.

This comes after a military campaign conducted by the STC’s factions on Sunday in Modiyah to pursue and track down what it called “terrorist elements”, a year after the launch of Operation “Siham Al-Sharq” in mid-August of last year, 2022.
