Campaign of raids launched against STC activists in Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, June 25 (YPA) – Security forces launched on Sunday a campaign of raids and widespread arrests targeting activists in UAE-backed Transitional Council due to protests rejecting the visit of the head of the Presidential Council of the coalition, Rashad al-Alimi in the city of Mukalla in Hadramout province in eastern Yemen.

Sources said that a police and political security force raided the homes of activists in Al-Sharj area of Mukalla city and arrested a number of them for participating in the demonstration in the city in which al-Alimi’s photos were torn up.

The sources added that among the detainees was a young man named Saeed Al-Tamimi, the Security Force stormed his house and took him to an unknown destination, causing terror to his family.

The families of the detainees intend to organize a protest in front of Mukalla Security Department to denounce the repressive arrests, the sources pointed out.
