Iran’s Foreign Minister heads to South Africa to participate in BRICS meeting

WORLD, June 01 (YPA) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian left for Cape Town, South Africa, heading a delegation at dawn on Thursday to participate in a meeting of foreign ministers of the “Friends of BRICS”.

The BRICS foreign ministers will meet in Cape Town, South Africa, on Thursday (June 1st).

South Africa’s foreign minister invited BRICS countries’ foreign ministers, including Amir Amirabdollahian, to participate in the BRICS Friends meeting.

The South African Foreign Ministry announced that the BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting will be held in Cape Town on the first of June.

“South Africa’s Foreign Minister, Naledi Pandor, will host the BRICS Foreign Ministers Meeting on June 1, 2023, in Cape Town. The meeting is an opportunity for BRICS foreign ministers to reflect on regional and global developments,” the South African Foreign Ministry statement said.

The ministry noted that then, on June 2, the meeting of the “Friends of BRICS” will also be held, to which the foreign ministers of 15 countries from Africa and southern countries were invited.

The BRICS group are  (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa), and a number of other countries intend to join the bloc, including Iran.
