Tribal sheikh wounded in Hadramout assassination attempt

HADRAMOUT, May 24 (YPA) – A tribal sheikh’s companion was killed and one another seriously wounded on Wednesday in an assassination attempt in Wadi Hadramout, eastern Yemen.

Local sources affirmed that the sheikh and businessman, Abdullah bin Omar Al-Attas, loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council, was wounded after being subjected to heavy gunfire by unknown gunmen near Al-Musafer station in Wadi Hadramout, and one of his companions was killed and another seriously injured.

The sources stated that the gunmen intercepted Al-Attas in Bin Eifan area of Al-Khashaa Road, close to one of the military points of the forces of the First Military Region loyal to Islah.
