TAIZ, May 07 (YPA) – A leader of the Emirati-backed factions was killed on Sunday in an explosion in Taiz province.
According to local sources in Taiz said Tawfiq Jabari al-Waqar, the leader of the so-called “Guards of the Republic” militia, was killed in the explosion that targeted his car between the areas of al-Barh and al-Kadha in Al-Ma’afer district, after returning to the coastal city of Mocha.
The sources added that two of al-Waqar’s escorts were also seriously injured in the blast.
Al-Waqar had served as the security director of Jabal Habashi district before he was dismissed following a dispute with the leaders of the so-called “Taiz Axis” which is controlled by the militants of the Islah Party, which prompted Al-Waqar to flee to the western coast areas and join the armed factions in Mocha led by UAE-backed Tariq Saleh, the nephew of former President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
