SANAA, April 27 (YPA) – About 3 million former US military soldiers had been subjected to toxic substances examination as a result of inhaling polluted materials resulting from waste burning pits during and after the invasion period on Iraq and Afghanistan.
The American “The Hill” newspaper confirmed in a report on Thursday that 500,000 members of the US military submitted compensation claims after being confirmed that they had various diseases as a result of those toxic materials.
Since the US President Biden signed the law, 215,000 veterans have applied for examination, and the number represents an increase of 15% over the same period last year, the report added.
Biden said in a statement, “Many of the soldiers’ military service included exposure to hazardous environments and materials, and this exposure can lead to adverse health effects, including cancer, respiratory disease, or high blood pressure.
