Minister of Defense affirms Yemen’s authority over territorial waters, Bab al-Mandab Strait

WEST COAST, April  22 (YPA) – The Minister of Defense in the Sanaa government, Major General Mohammed Nasser Al-Atifi, warned countries of the Saudi-led coalition against any circumvention or maneuvers in dealing with the recent understandings that took place between Sanaa and the coalition.

This came during his visit to the army fighters of the Fifth Military Region, stationed in Al-Tuhayta, Al-Faza, Al-Hayma, Al-Saheli and Al-Jarrahi on the west coast.

Major General Al-Atfi said that any denunciation of the agreement and   understandings will bring loss to the coalition countries, and will trap them in endless deadlock.

He added: “The Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb, the Gulf of Aden and our territorial waters are an exclusive Yemeni area, and our maritime sovereignty over them is complete. We are sufficient to provide the necessary protection for them, and to secure regional and international navigation.”
