KHARTOUM, April 22 (YPA) – Sudan’s army announced on Saturday the start of the evacuation of foreign missions requested by their countries in the coming hours, due to the deteriorating security situation following armed clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The army said in a statement that the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Burhan, received calls from the heads of a number of countries regarding facilitating and ensuring the evacuation of their nationals and diplomats from the country.
Burhan “agreed to provide the necessary assistance to secure such evacuations for various countries,” The statement added.
According to the statement, the United States, Britain, France and China will evacuate their diplomats and nationals on military transport planes belonging to their armed forces from Khartoum.
The statement also noted that “the Saudi mission was previously evacuated by land to Port Sudan, and from there by air to Saudi Arabia, and the departure of the Jordanian mission will be secured at a later time in the same manner.”
