Argentine artists, writers reject genocidal war in Gaza

BUENOS AIRES, Aug. 11 (YPA) – The Argentine Association of Socialist Intellectuals and Artists announced on Monday its rejection of the genocidal war being waged by the Israeli occupation against the people of the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, it denounced the catastrophic humanitarian situation facing Palestinians as a result of the Israeli aggression.

The statement was signed by approximately 1,200 prominent figures from various cultural, artistic, and academic fields.

“Gaza is suffering from an ongoing genocide, with more than 60,000 Gazans, including some 20,000 children, killed during the 21-month aggression,” it added.

The statement added that the occupation has been preventing the entry of thousands of trucks carrying aid, and that most of the aid is being delivered through a private American company, reflecting international complicity and cultural silence on the issue.

The signatories also addressed the announcement by the Israeli Minister of Defense of his intention to establish a detention camp in Rafah, which threatens to expand the ethnic cleansing project to include the West Bank after the Israeli parliament voted to annex the entire area.

They concluded with a call to take to the streets around the world to stop the most brutal genocide of our time and to halt the occupation’s aggression against Gaza.
