US tornado death toll rises to 26

WORLD, April 02 (YPA) – At least 26 people were killed by tornadoes that hit 8 US states, CBS News reported.

According to the PowerOutage.us website, about 140,000 people remained without a power source in Pennsylvania, about 82,000 in Ohio, and more than 65,000 in Virginia.

The US Meteorological Institute noted that tornadoes hit the states of Arkansas, Mississippi, Iowa, Tennessee, Illinois, Wisconsin, Alabama and New Jersey with a population rate of more than 28 million people.

In New York, winds accompanied by strong thunderstorms reached 30 m/s, and lightning struck World Trade Center 1, the world’s seventh tallest skyscraper.

On Friday, a powerful tornado hit Little Rock, Arkansas, destroying or damaging many homes.
