WORLD, March 14 (YPA) – South Korea’s military said Pyongyang on Tuesday morning fired two short-range ballistic missiles towards the Sea of Japan, a day after the start of joint military exercises between Seoul and Washington.
The two short-range ballistic missiles were launched from the area of Jangyon County, South Hwanghae Province from 7:41 to 7:51 a.m. local time, according to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff.
“Our military is maintaining a full readiness posture in close coordination with the US while strengthening monitoring and vigilance in preparation for additional launches,” the JCS said
The Pentagon’s Indo-Pacific Command said the United States did not see the incident as an immediate threat to it or its allies, noting that it “highlights the destabilizing nature of North Korea’s illicit weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs.”
