SANAA, March 14 (YPA) – Public Health Bureau in Amanat Al-Asimah destroyed 105 tons of expired and damaged medicines and foodstuffs.
The director of the health Bureau Dr. Mutahar Al-Marwani said in a statement to Saba News Agency, that the destruction process was carried out in accordance with legal procedures, and with the participation of representatives of the Public Prosecution and the Supreme Authority for Medicines.
The destroyed quantity included 34 tons of expired and damaged medicines, and 71 tons of damaged various foodstuffs, he said.
Al-Marwani stressed commitment of fostering control and inspection procedures on pharmaceutical and food facilities, and to confiscate and destroy medicines and damaged materials unfit for human consumption, in order to ensure the protection of citizens’ health.
